The safest ending is surely a long fade out. You don’t even notice the song is over until the next track drops.
The most impressive way to end is the crisp, hard out. One final chorus and the song ends hard on the last note. Planned, practiced, with the whole band finishing on the same beat.
But sometimes improvisation and competing solos take over, and the only way out is a classic trash can ending.

With gentle grace, loving kindness, friendly care, you have supported, assisted, taught and encouraged so many people who were vulnerable, struggling with non inclusion and misrepresentation. Your wisdom and approach has been such a warming gift, from simple greetings to momentous justice actions. Your teaching, impressionable and life changing.
May this be a time of recovery, rest, renewal, refocusing. May warming grace surround you both, hold your healing and enliven your being. Thank you, Deep peace of of the running wave and quiet earth to you.
And then when your final sound is made from the heights of a mountain it echoes through the valley as a clarion call for others to look upward and onward. And you have served us in the heights and the valleys.
